Hands down, Royal Caribbean is my favorite line for family vacations. I prefer their amenities and service to Carnival and with the introduction of so many family friendly activities you really can't go wrong with Royal Caribbean if you're looking for a cruise that the whole family will enjoy! Splashaway Bay is found on 10 of their ships and will quickly become your little ones favorite place on the ship!
What is Splashaway Bay?
Splashaway Bay is a basically a waterpark for little ones. Kids from about 3 years old until 9 or 10 will love spending time here. While exactly what is at Splashaway Bay varies slightly by ship you can expect to find waterslides for pint-sized riders, water cannons, lots of fountains, pools and whirlpools from little ones through teens. Perhaps the most popular feature at Splashaway Bay is the drench buckets - it's where you want to be to cool off when it tips!
Splashaway Bay Rules & More
You're on vacation to have fun but Royal Caribbean has to have some rules to keep cruising safe and fun for everyone. The most important rule at Splashaway Bay is that kids playing must be potty trained. Diapers, even swim diapers, are not allowed at Splashaway Bay. This is a really important rule to follow because if feces gets into the play area it will need to be entirely shut down, which isn't fun for anyone!
While Splashaway Bay is fine for any little one who is potty trained, the minimum height for the slide is 42" and the maximum weight is 300 lbs. Swimwear is required while using Splashaway Bay and children must be supervised by a parent at all times.
