The Surfside Family Neighborhood on Royal Caribbean is totally new and looks like it's totally awesome! Surfside takes up almost the entire back quarter of deck 7 and has so many activities that kids of all ages (and their parents) will love! Let's get started!
Water Activities
Splashaway Bay
This is a water park play area created just for small guests. Your kids will enjoy colorful waterslides, fountains, water cannons, pools, whirlpools and a drench bucket that tips every time it fills up getting everyone in its path, well, drenched. The minimum height to play in Splashaway Bay is 42" and children playing her must be potty trained and be wearing swimwear.
The Water's Edge Pool
Located at the very back of the ship, overlooking the ocean, Water's Edge pool is the perfect place for parents to relax while they watch their kids playing close by at Splashaway Bay and Baby Bay. There's plenty of lounge chairs in this area as well for relaxing the day away.
Icon of the Seas will also feature the first ever Baby Bay where babies who are not yet potty trained will be able to enjoy water activities. Royal Caribbean has not released any photos of this area but as soon as we are able to get some we'll share them with you! If you happen to be on one of the first sailings, we'd love if you took some and sent them to us!
Dry Play
The Carousel
Located in the middle of the Surfside Family Neighborhood, your kids will love the ocean-themed carousel.
Wonder Playscape
This isn't your average playground - little cruisers will love exploring the ocean-themed play area complete with slides, climbing walls and puzzles. You'll also find giant versions of games like tic-tac-toe and puzzles. Be sure to stop by after-dark when the lighting transforms the Wonder Playscape into an otherworldly seascape.
The Arcade
The Arcade in the Surfside Family Neighborhood features a variety of both retro and modern games, air hockey, claw machines, skee-ball pinball and so much more!
Dine & Drink
The Lemon Post
The perfect place for the whole family to grab a drink! The Lemon Post is an open-air bar with specialty cocktails for the adults and matching mocktails for the kids. The mixologists at The Lemon Post not only create amazing drinks, they are performers as well! Drinks are not included with your cruise fare but you are able to use your drink package for beverages.
Surfside Eatery
This casual buffet is included with your cruise fare and is the perfect place and is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner. At breakfast you'll find options ranging from chocolate chip pancakes to traditional favorites like eggs and bacon. Lunch and dinner will feature lots of kids favorites such as pasta, chicken nuggets and more. The Surfside Eatery will offer more mature options for parents as well!
Sugar Beach
You may hope your kids don't notice this little eatery and shop but it is vacation so sugar and sweets are always on the menu! You'll be able to purchase candy by the bag or buy lots of yummy dessert items like cupcakes, fudge, and more! The items at Sugar Beach are available for purchase.
Pier 7
This casual eatery is not included in your cruise fare but it is reasonably priced and open for breakfast, lunch and dinner. The best news? They feature brunch all day long. Beyond the amazing brunch options you'll find a menu that focuses on casual California cuisine.
Events at the Surfside Neighborhood
This overview of the Surfside Neighborhood on Icon of the Seas wouldn't be complete without mentioning that this will be the first ship to have Admiral Awesome, who will be in charge of all the family activities on-board the ship. Admiral Awesome will be hosting a variety of events including:
Larger than Life Family Festival: This is a family playtime with a variety of larger-than-life games like colossal bowling pins, a huge ring toss, giants darts and more.
The Big Shark Block Party: Join Admiral Awesome and friends hand out fins to attendees and then lead a fun-filled dance party that you won't want to miss!
Once Upon a Time Bedtime Story: Meet under the stars every night for sleepy-time yoga and a bedtime story that's sure to get your little ones ready for a good night of sleep.
Steel Pan Family Jam: Another party you won't want to miss! With kid friendly sheet music, your family will be playing Caribbean jams like pros in no time at all!
